Bouba Dola was born in Kinshasa Zaire (current Republic of .Democratic .Congo). As a small child, Bouba and his parents came to the Netherlands as a political asylum seeker. In his youth, Bouba was active at a high level in football, but after an accident at the age of fourteen, his interest in visual art such as graffiti, photography and film was aroused.
After high school, Bouba obtained a degree in ICT, after which he continued his studies at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, in the direction of Desktop Publishing. His interest in image and technology eventually brought him to Rotterdam where he started the audiovisual company Advance Motion Pictures with a partner.
In this collaboration she made countless music videos for names such as, Giovanca, Steffen Morrison, Berget Lewis, Typhoon and Blaxtar. For Topnotch / Universal Netherlands, Bouba worked as a video producer, in this position he has built up a lot of experience regarding the music industry. He also produces himself;
in 2013, his track "Sweat" was an alarm hit for Giel Beelen for Pink Oculus, which resulted in a few live performances at, among others, Noordeslag as The world keeps on turning. In recent years, in addition to music videos, Bouba has shifted its focus more towards making autonomous work. His free work has been exhibited in, among others, the Booijmans Museum Rotterdam, The Amsterdam Museum, Center for Visual Arts Zuid-Oost, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Le Petit Festival Dubrovnik Crotia, and in the ArtHotel Amsterdam Today, Bouba works as an independent artist / filmmaker for various artists, advertising agencies & brands.
He is currently working on a project plan for a major audiovisual installation project in Congo, He also remains a much sought after clip maker because of his distinctive style. His work can be described as a mix of graphics and video, cinematic camera work, beautiful images interspersed with bold artistic choices, by playing with animations and effects in the edit
